'When I Heard My Ex Insignificant Other Died' by Debra Daniel

I thought about the artifacts I’d dug up on his land. Hours spent wedging trowel into hard ground uncovering broken spearpoints. Nothing left whole. 

I offered them back when we were done, hoping he’d say, “keep them,” but no, not even the rose quartz one he knew was my favorite.
