'Morning Routine' by Melissa Flores Anderson

I climb under the covers next to Mommy. She's snoring. I cuddle up so she'll wake. I put my head on Daddy's pillow. He's in the kitchen. The yuck smell of coffee gets in my nose. Next day, I wake earlier and Daddy is asleep in the living room, his head on the little couch pillows. He has the green blanket I use to build forts over him. He looks lonely. I put my cat stuffie next to him. I don't want to wake him. Mommy says he's cranky in the morning. I climb under the covers next to Mommy.
